We take great pride in announcing that one of the two Postgraduate Prize in recognition of the outstanding achievement for the Hull University EMBA Off-Campus program for the period August 2018-July 2019 went to Alin Băiescu, alumni of the 2017-2019 EMBA Class delivered here in Cluj-Napoca. Alin has had an excellent performance throughout the program and graduated with Distinction, culminating his outstanding academic track with great involvement in the development and promotion of the program. As alumni, Alin coordinated the publishing of the first collective volume reuniting the best research assignments conducted by his EMBA colleagues, called: "In Search of Tomorrow: Critical Thinking about the Romanian and International Business Environment".
Alin is currently a Board member and Chief Commercial Officer at Polaris Medical in Cluj-Napoca, visiting lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at the Babeş-Bolyai University, teaching at the MA level. Since January 2020, he is representing the alumni community at the TEE consultative board meetings.
He has previously worked in the Insurance industry and founded an insurance consultancy company. Alin obtained a degree in Economics at the Babeş-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca and a Ph.D. from the Lucian Blaga University in Sibiu. He has published books and academic papers on insurance and business in Romania and obtained several prizes for his activity in the insurance domain. Author of innovative materials meant to raise the insurance literacy in Romania, Alin launched the first personal blog in Romania on insurance and business and developed the first motion pictures aimed to raise awareness on the benefits and importance of insurances for the Romanian society.
Alin Băiescu: "I am more than delighted to receive this prize! Even this is a nominal reward, I am really aware that my activities and academic performance couldn't reach this level of appreciation without the outstanding context and support created by both the University of Hull from the UK, and the TEE team from Cluj. As it seems, I am a real proof that such an environment has the power to value EMBA students' potential: it encourages them to grow on the professional and personal side and even helps them discover unknown resources."
Andrew Taylor, Managing Director at TEE: "We at TEE are extremely proud of Alin, who has demonstrated the call of this MBA to show 'interconnected thinking' to a global standard. His personal commitment to his studies combined with activities such as coordinating the production of a book of his classes best essays is a leading example of what Hull University calls 'responsible leadership'. This award is living proof that the spirit of achieving beyond your expectations, that is what Hull is all about, for us, is alive and well in our students."
In the last 5 years, we managed to grow a powerful business community, with more than 130 business people involved directly into the Executive MBA programme (alumni & current students), and more than 200 participants to our events each year. We went beside Cluj-Napoca, reaching cities like Bucharest, Arad, Oradea, Deva, Tg. Mures, Sibiu, Brasov, Alba-Iulia, Suceava, Baia Mare, Chisinau.
